Cortina d'Ampezzo

Cortina d'Ampezzo is the geographic and tourist heart of Dolomites. It lies in the Ampezzo valley and is surrounded by marvellous heights, such as Tofane and Cristallo. It can be easily reached from many passes, such as Falzarego, Giau and the Tre Croci. In Summer sports opportunities varies from the more traditional ones to the more spectacular ones, such as rafting and climbing organised by expert local guides. For example "the Cinque Torri" is a climber paradise with many different grades of climb. They are reached from Falzarego Pass, up to "Scoiattoli" refuge. This refuge is the starting point for walk to "Averau" refuge, where you can admire the Marmolada. From here you can also go to the top of "Nuvolao" and its beautiful refuge dominating "Passo Giau", the "Tofane" and the "Lastre di Formin".

The most well equipped ones can try the "VIE ATTREZZATE" which take to unique panoramas. In Winter Cortina offers kilometres of down hill and cross country sky runs and various other snow entertainment like skating on ice, sledge, walking to the "ciaspe". But in every season the main tourist attraction is the beauty of its pink coloured mountains and all its famous hotels, restaurant, shops and cultural events. That makes it one of the favourite destination for tourist all over the world.

Even if Cortina present itself today very different from the descriptions and impression of the past it has not lost the enchantments of its mountains, grassy slopes, pastures and unique nature.
